DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES

In the Division of Codes and Standards, Bureau of Rooming and Boarding House Standards, the Compliance Officer's responsibility is to review and evaluate issuance of licenses to regulated owners and operators; the Compliance Officer also assesses penalties to owners of rooming and boarding homes and other regulated facilities for non-compliance. The Compliance Officer negotiates settlements and compromises with owners of rooming and boarding homes; issues Orders vacating properties; reviews cases of non-compliance; prepares pleadings to docket penalties and obtains writs; monitors abatement schedules; conducts enforcement evaluations; represents the Bureau at Office of Administrative Law proceedings; and takes the lead over field staff conducting jurisdictional investigations. Performs additional duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Six (6) years of professional technical experience in construction estimating or in construction code or housing code enforcement. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
