The NJ Department of Community Affairs seeks an experienced, mission-driven professional to serve as Deputy Director of the Division of Housing and Community Resources. Reporting to the Director of the Division, the Deputy Director will: • Oversee Division programs and advise on policy and programmatic initiatives in the areas of Economic Development, Housing Production, Housing Assistance, Home Energy Assistance, Weatherization, Lead, Community Services, and Neighborhood Programs • Manage Division personnel and procurement functions • Serve as subject matter expert and provide policy and programmatic recommendations to Division Director in areas of affordable housing, rental assistance, and community and economic development Preferred candidates will have: • Extensive knowledge of and experience in managing large state or federal housing or community development programs; specifically, administration of community development, neighborhood revitalization or housing assistance or related programs. • Prior success in defining program goals and objectives and establishing program performance reviews • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and use analysis to recommend programmatic improvements and new policy and programs • Strong staff supervision and leadership skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree. Six (6) years of experience as an administrator involving planning, budgets and administration of programs in a large public or private agency, three (3) years of which shall be in a supervisory capacity. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated above on a year for year basis. Master's degree in Business, or Public Administration may be substituted for one year of non-supervisory experience.

Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
